Well our most recent event did not go as planned with our 2nd engine failure of the year, but that's racing.
The whole Double-Apex crew came through in fine style all day Saturday going above and beyond as usual. We first got the the track @ 6am to assist with the Modified Magazine auto-x. After succesfully setting up the track, timing/scoring and fetching cones for a few hours we moved over to the racetrack in order to get our car prepared for the night event. Unfortunately it was apparent from the get-go we had a engine problem in the valvetrain. We worked to resolve the issue all afternoon but were unable to totally identify where the problem lied within the motor. We attempted our first run of the event shortly after 4pm, but the motor only lasted 5 laps. As I headed down the straight away at over 100mph the motor had an internal failure and that was the end of our night. The real bummer was that our transponder didnt pick up so we didnt register a time for the session. Thus we left without scoring any points and didn't reclaim the TTE track record. Despite all that bad news the team is already moving forward as we were already in progress of rebuilding a stronger engine that we will now finish and use for the remainder of the year. Keep checking back for more info! |
