We went to PIR this past weekend hoping to get our newly installed supercharger working and improve our times even more....Oh and kick some ass while we were @ it! The whole crew worked hard ensuring our supercharger would be ready for this event and they came through in grand style. Saturday morning we had Brian Kozan jump behind the wheel and help get all the bugs worked out. After making major progress towards the inevitable hiccups we would experience I got behind the wheel after lunch. It was apparent right from the start we were on the right track as I instantly lowered our best time to 1:15.2 a full second off our previous best. But after 2 laps it was also apparent the system was not working properly. After more tuning we continued to run around the same times, but knew there was more to come once we found the sweet spot. So overnight we worked on the car making more adjustments and some basic maintence in preparation for Sunday. We hit the track early and we then able to put in full sessions with the supercharger. After another long day of fighting through any issue that arose the car was ready for the last session of the day. Thankfully this is when I am at my best, when it is late, hot and no one else can handle the track. During the warm up lap it was more than apparent that the car was ready to run, it would be up to the driver to deliver. After hitting 115mph down the front straight away I knew I had the tools to get the job down for the crew down in the pits. I wrestled with the car and competitors who were shocked to have the Miata fighting with them all the way. At the close of the weekend we had lowered our time a whole 2.2 seconds to 1:14.029. So close to the 13's! Our car is still a class E car, so basically the competition is fucked for lack of a better word! The next event is May 24th @ FIR Main @ Night and we will be looking to reclaim the track record that was taken from us last year. Be there or be square!
