Time to dig in to the bottom end!
Things in the garage sat stagnant for a while. I have been learning to weld, and purchasing more tools to be adequately prepared for the rest of the engine build. But first, more engine teardown! Today I moved forward removing the pistons and getting the crank out of the block. Our 1.6L is ready for the machine shop! Totally cleared of accessories, we will have the block cleaned up, honed, and milled while the new parts are on order. Everything in the motor still looks good, with nothing noticeable that will give us any problems.
Now it's time to find a place to store these parts for a bit, to make room for more parts! Look forward to Pt. 3, when we tear down the head and really get ourselves in trouble!
