One of my 2010 goals was to break all the track records @ the Firebird tracks. This past weekend the NASA-TT championship headed to FIR Main for a 2 day event. The plan was to win both days, earn some more Hooiser tires and break the TTD track record. MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!!!

For 2010 I am focussed on the NASA-TT championship in the TTD class. Finishing off last season on a strong note has given my optimisim in achieving my goals this year.
Setting Track Records @ all 3 Firebird Track (Main, East, West)
Win every Firebird event
Winning 2010 TTD Championship
The TT season kicked off January 9th and 10th @ PIR. Saturday was quite an interesting day indeed. I decided to run in the 2nd session with hope of only having to run a few laps and save the car/tires for Sunday. It didn't work out that way all however...

We made it!! This past Saturday I competed in the DCB Dawn2Dusk enduro @ McDowell Mountain on the Pemberton Trail. Competing in the Duo- Geared class with my roommate Matt Noble for the 2nd time, our goal to finish the race and complete 8 laps. After throwing in the towel barely halfway through last years event we went back to the drawing board and formulated a better strategy, after riding for over 8 hours, we made the final lap cutoff by 60seconds! The race started @ 7:17am and you had to start your final lap by 4:20 one hour before sunset. I was to start the race, it was freezing cold with 3layers, 2 pairs of sock and a head warmer I was ready to go!

It's been quite a year, I competed in more events than ever and was competitive all year in multiple disciplines. However, there were too many 2nd place finishes and no championships, so I'm working hard to correct that in 2010.
NASA-TT Championship: 2nd in TTD and 3rd in TTE MBAA Championship: 4th in Cat3 Total event podium finishes for 2009: 1st:5 | 2nd:12 | 3rd:2 My 2010 event schedule will be my most ambitious yet consisting of at least 35 events over 5 disciplines. I am planning on competing for multiple championships next year in both NASA-TT and the MBAA championship. I am also looking to compete in both open swim and a sprint triathlon events. |

It's been a tough year, but I wouldn't want it to be any other way. I pushed the development of Black Betty until the very last of the season. The final updates for the year were focused on handling working on both aero and tires. With a custom front air dam and rear spoiler added to the car thanks to my father's ingenuity. I also took the big risk and went for Hoosier tires and entered into the Hoosier contingency program. The tires last less than a dozen runs, but each win is earns free 2 tires. As the NASA-Arizona TT championship came to a close this past weekend and I was looking to end the year on top. I achieved my goals for the weekend by winning both days and going even faster than ever before with a 1:12.02. The photos section has been updated and I am working on the video now, check back soon! |
